I just bought a new headset called Turtle Beach for like $30 at Best Buy. WOW! is all I can say.  I didn't know you could hear the wind blowing in Modern Warfare 2?   I could hear my shell casings hit the ground.  In Favela, in the distance, dogs are barking.  TOTALLY NEW GAMING EXPERIENCE.  I always knew that some of the really good players in Call of Duty had surrond sound, or headsets with surrond sound, but to experience it myself..... just WOW!  Love my purchase!

I was worried the the lower than $50 models might not be up to par, but I've been hearing rave reviews all around. Thanks for the update!

plus I purchased for $6 a warranty on it for 2 years, so if anything goes wrong with the headset, I get a new set free with the warranty.  Worth the $6.  I never get the insurance warranty on games, but for the headset, it's nice insurance to have.

I picked up the Turtle Beach X31 last year.... Best investment yet, especially with gaming at night and the sleeping family.

Yeah, I bought these, the XLC.  And as good as they sound, I wish I would have spent a little more $ for the next model up.  I mean, you get what you pay for, so I can only imagine how good the others are in sound.

Down side to them, hearing other players talk is kinda hard, when you have all the amazing sounds of the game going on at the same time.  BUT, I'd take the sound of the game over hearing the guys chatting.

A company out of Calgary, AB has made a new gaming headset and as of right now its only for the PC.  They are in the process of making for the console very soon.  These headset are more expensive in the Astro and Tritton range.

I have been slowly convincing myself that I NEED these when they are released for the Xbox
