Comments? Reviews? Thoughts?   A nurse at my work says her boys bought it, and she played it last night, and she is really impressed with the Kinect.  She is not a video game person at all, but she really liked it a lot.

Curious what others who may have it think?

I'm waiting to hear some personal reviews as well. Here is the website review from the Electronic Gaming Monthly Magazine editors (I like them better than ign): http://www.1up.com/do/feature?cId=3182235

This story is funny though...http://www.1up.com/news/kinect-claims-busted-television

I remember when the Wii first came out and I was working as one of the reps via telephone for Bestbuy's GeekSquad, and many people had called in for warranty replacement tv's after their "kids" threw something into the TV.....lol

Do you remember Hey You, Pikachu! for N64? It was a game where, in theory, you controlled the titular rodent using voice commands. In practice, Pikachu would do everything except what you were screaming into the mic. After about 10 minutes of frustrating horribleness, you inevitably turned off your system (provided you hadn't already thrown it through a window) and went to do something more constructive, like talk to the sink.

Kinect is better, but the fact that it's still not 100% consistent is frustrating. I'm probably more excited about navigating menus with a wave of my hand and controlling my 360 by talking to it than any of the incredibly embarrassing games the system has to offer. And while we're on the topic of embarrassing, did you know Kinect takes pictures of you while you're playing many of its games? Do I really need photographic proof that I look like a moron flailing my arms around while trying to smack imaginary dodgeballs?

That voice control isn't fully integrated across the entire system, or even across the entire dashboard -- where it only works 60-70% of the time -- makes the entire package a little less appealing. (Also, why is there a voice command for opening and closing the disc tray? Will there eventually be a voice command for making a little robot hop out of the system, grab a game for you, and then put it in the drive?) Still, if my apartment weren't pitifully too small, I might consider buying Kinect. As it stands, I'm not quite ready to toss out my bed, which takes up the entire space between the wall and TV, for a controller that doesn't work with all my games. Now, when they add Kinect support to Halo, I might consider ditching the bed.                                                                   "

Well I have it and its ok.  I got for my son B-day today and he's having a video game party tomorrow( three 360's and a wii with 15 + kids why oh why ha ha ha ) the set up took longer than I expected 10 to 15min.  The only game I have right now is the one that came with the system and it seems to be ok .  I wanted to rent some games but blockbuster dont have any.

Looks like I'll wait until they update this bad boy for the reason I would get it. (Minority report like menu hand gestures)

I got mine on Driday and honestly have not invested the time ti stress test it. I did have it setup in my bedroom, but that was stupid because of space issue. SO I moved the unit out to the den where there is space, Went through all thr calibration stuff again. Once I got it going, my favorite feature is telling the kinnect i want to watch a netflix moved and we did it all by voice. I still hav yet to play a game, and I think I need positive reinforcement of operation for better performance on this new component. TIme and reading will help.....Rob

Well since my last post I must say I'm impressed with the kinnect. The only advice I can give is make sure you have adequate space to perform the actions required  by the application you playing. It  is a really responsive piece of hardware. I've already broke a lampshade and put a small hole in my bedroom wall making a save in soccer. For $150 I think it;s worth it. Any questions Holla at me!!
