This thread will be used for general discussion about Season 4.

Here are the things that are already set:

  • Keeper league - you keep your team from season to season. The goal is to complete at least 3 seasons, possibly more.
  • Set advance schedule - there will be set days when the league will advance. These days are negotiable, but the goal of this league is to actually progress through multiple season, if we are constantly waiting on guys to play their games, the league will not move forward.
    • With this set advance schedule, if owners miss a set number of advances, they will be removed. Owner activity level will be closely monitored in this league!
  • Sliders - we will use sliders for gameplay, which ones can be discussed, as well as other game settings.
  • Trades -  trades will be allowed. The method to review trades (committee, league vote) will be discussed.
  • Coaches only - no players or owners. Creating new coaches as well, so everyone will start on the same level.
  • Fantasy Draft? - Personally, I would love to do a fantasy draft, but I also realize that it will take forever, and it's almoast impossible to get everyone online at the same time. That being said, I still think it'll be cool. I'd love to hear some more thoughts on this.

These are only the things I can think of off the top of my head. If you can think of any potential issues, please bring them up here.

I'll also remind you, in line with the owner activity, that this league will be what you make it. As a commissioner, I can help and lend advice, but the owners are what makes the league go. I'm looking forward to having a fun time playing this game with you!

Thanks!

ill go first.. LOL

with just 16 owners, IMO each division needs to have 2 owners. that way the league is spread out evenly.

advance schedule, how about SUN/WED? two advances a week.

team draft, if we go with 16 guys and 2 teams per division, the long time VIPers in a current Madden league etc should get first crack at teams.

trades, only 3 should be allowed per team max. thats even pushing it, bc you dont see trades that much during NFL seasons.

having a fantasy draft would be ideal for sure. but like you said, can we get 16 guys to be on at one time?

A few things:

  • If we go with a full league, there will be no fantasy draft.
    • We will start with the pre-season 75-man rosters
  • Advance schedule - 9:00pm EST on advance day
    • Pre-Season - 48 hours. Games are NOT mandatory, but making cuts is.
    • Regular season and playoffs - 72 hours. 3 days is plenty of time to get everything done
      • If you don't respond to your opponent within 48 hours, you will be set to autopilot so your opponent can play one game. You will also receive one strike.
      • If you know you cannot play a game within the set time, set yourself to autopilot to avoid a strike.
    • I will post a schedule with important league dates, including advances
  • Player contracts
    • All players resigned, or signed in offseason free agency, must receive 20% of their contract by way of a signing bonus if:
      • The contract is three seasons or longer in length
      • The contract is worth $2 million or more per season
    • Signed or resigned players must not receive contracts longer than five seasons unless that is what the player is asking for. If a team has a player requesting a contract longer than five seasons, they must contact the commissioner with a picture of the request to receive permission to sign the player to a longer contract.
    • Contracts that don't meet the above standards will be released into free agency and the offending team will have to eat any penalties associated with the cut and will not be allowed to sign that player until after the next offseason free agency period.
  • 3 strikes = gone
    • Strikes will be used to keep track of missed advances and other penalties.

These are the rules we use in ones my friends and I have always done. As well as some thoughts

1. Turn injuries off to sim the preseason.  We turn them back on at the start of the regular season.

2. Free Agency is you get to sign two players off the free agency list.  We usually did a random drawing to see who gets first crack, and so on.

3. I think Fiddy makes a lot of sense with putting two teams in each division.

4. I also think we could work out a fantasy draft.  All of us here probably play fantasy football.  We are in 8-12 team leagues that we have to schedule a time to draft.  My friends and I actually started our connected last night.  The fantasy draft in madden this year puts a clock on the picks and you can't adjust the time.  It went pretty fast for us last night.  You only take 53 players, so we could make a rule where once X amount of players are drafted, we have the computer sim the rest of the draft.  Like we have 35 players to draft and let the computer finish the last 18.

5. If you are in this league, and start getting way behind in the actual XBFL, then you are removed from this league.  Has to be accountability to where the main league doesn't suffer.

I've changed my mind about onnly having 16 teams. I don't know if that changes anything you said or not, but I thought I would put it here. Let's go for a full one!

I really like rules 1 & 5.

I really liked 16.  If we shoot for all the teams, how are we going to handle advancing the week.  Will the game just be simmed if we are supposed to be a user?  If that is the case, we are going to have a ton of backlash.  If you and I are scheduled to play, and you stand me up or can't make it, why is it fair that our game gets simmed?  You could win the sim, AND I could lose a player to injury.  This was always the problem when trying to do this before.

My opinion is 8-16 teams.  Keeps down on the rift raft of being able to get games in.  A core group like us would not have a problem.

If your opponent doesn't respond to you within 48 hours, you must contact the commissioner and your opponent will be put on autopilot so you can play the CPU. The only games that will be simmed are from no communication either way.

All of this sounds pretty awesome but I have a question! What will the computer be set to AI wise? ALL-PRO? ALL-MADDEN? or CUSTOM? because i feel like someone could have someones number, so to say, so they miss the schedule with that person on purpose so that the computer could have a better chance against them. If this makes sense? I know ALL-MADDEN can be kinda difficult to play against sometimes

It will be on All-Pro.

The goal is to fill the league, so there hopefully won't be too many CPU teams in the league.

This is an Xbox One league, I'm not sure you'll get the unbiased opinions you're looking for here. Or anywhere outside of review sites, really. Too much fanboy-ism.

That being said, I like my X1.

I've got both Willie.  I prefer the Xbox because of Xbox Live.  System wise, they are both great.  Graphics wise the PS4 can be a shade better, but with the games I prefer to buy, a strong multiplayer experience that isn't tainted by servers going down or bad support makes me choose the Xbox.

They are currently running a deal where you get a free game as well. Not sure how long it lasts.
